The Power of Presence Part 2

Join me today as I muse again on being present. I’ve discussed this before, but today I bring it to you with a different twist.

I hope you enjoy!

Hello, and welcome to my musings.

Awhile back I wrote about the power of being present and now I’m feeling drawn to the subject again, so here we go.

In my previous post I discussed the power of being in the present moment and that this is where our power lies. That we can’t effect change in the past or the future because we aren’t there. We are only here, in this moment.

I was recently listening to Esther Hicks channeling Abraham, and they were talking about being aligned with what we want in life and being in the flow and that spurred today’s musing.

You see there is a principle in life that says what you think about you bring about or what you focus on expands. Said another way, energy flows where your attention goes. So, what are you thinking about right now? Are you thinking about what you would love to have in your life or are you in fact thinking about the lack of it? Are you thinking about what you want or the fact that you want it, and you don’t have it yet? This may sound like a small deal, but it is in fact a big deal.

Ponder this, if we bring about what we think about, are we thinking about or attracting what we want or are we thinking about and attracting more of the lack of it?

This is where the Abraham conversation came in. They said that being present is the absence of thought. Hmmm, let that sink in for a minute. When we are present, when we are noticing what is in this very moment, we are not focused on what has happened before or might or might not happen in the future. Now, I know this, but it just brought it to light in a different way. They also discussed meditation and that this is another way to stop thought.

When our attention is on our breath or a mantra or the sensations that we are experiencing, we are in the now. And being in the now is the secret to letting in what we desire. We get out of our own way.

Abraham uses the analogy of a canoe in the water. Picture getting into your canoe and paddling upstream. This is what happens when we're going against the flow, when we’re focused on things other than what we would love to have in our lives, we’re paddling upstream.

If you take the paddle out of the water and let the canoe right itself, then we go with the flow. This is what happens when you remove your thought from lack or where you’ve been or worries that you may not have what you want. When you bring yourself back to the present moment you release the resistance, you go with the flow.

I know that you may feel a little panicky if you stop thinking about what you want. You may even be saying “wait, if I stop thinking about what I want and planning for it, I won’t get it”.

So, here’s the thing: when you bring your attention to the present moment and focus on what is in front of you right now, what you see, what you hear or your breath for instance, you then allow space for whatever is meant to come to you. You might have a brilliant idea pop into your mind that you take action on that will lead you closer to your goal or “thing”. You might be open to hearing something that you might not have noticed before. You might get a call “out of the blue” from someone leading you closer to your desire.  It doesn’t matter what it is, what matters is that you got out of your own way and started letting things flow in the way that is meant for you.

Have fun with this and keep bringing yourself back to the present moment. This very place in time, this very moment and watch the magic unfold.

And until next time, remember that true peace is always just one breath away.
